A member of the Fort St. John Arts Comdmunity Council the Potters’ Guild, as a fund raising endeavour, has been awarded a part of the contract to assist with the preparation of painted flower pots: the City of Fort St. John’s “Flower Pot Project”.
New pots need to be painted. Used pots need some touch up and/or repainting. Upon completion, by April 1st, the pots, will be sponsored by local businesses and residents, planted to display a mass of flowers and will go on show all over town for the summer, adding a colourful and creative flair to the community.
The Guild is well on its way in the recruiting of helpers for the work that needs to be done. About 20 pots remain to be committed to by artists. As well though about 25 pots need touch up. Not so much artistic ability, perhaps, needed for those.
We are a small group working in the community providing studio space for clay artists and potters. We operate sessions of classes for adults and young people in the area. As well we work to raise the profile of art and crafts in and around Fort st. John, of course with a focus on clay. There seems to be a bottomless pit of prospective students. The studio is becoming a busy place. It costs to maintain it though.
Anyone with a few hours to spare? The Guild would appreciate your help. Bring a friend.
