What is CanadaHelps.org?
CanadaHelps.org (CHO) is a not-for-profit charity portal that facilitates online giving. CanadaHelps.org offers its services at no cost to the charity or the donor.
How do I make a donation?
Simply click the 'donate' button and follow the simple instructions. You will be asked to enter your name and mailing information, your email address, some directional details about the donation you are making and your credit card information. All information entered is strictly confidential, and donor information is only provided to the charity to which the donation has been made.
Is the site secure?
Yes. All information is securely protected behind multiple security measures.
How much does CanadaHelps cost me or the charities I support?
CanadaHelps assesses a 3% transaction fee on each donation. This amount is deducted before the donation is sent to the charity. This covers credit card merchant rates, transaction fees, banking costs, receipting, reconciliation and disbursement. The 3% is a modest charge for the service that CanadaHelps provides to Canadian donors and the charities they support.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes. Donations made through the CanadaHelps.org website are treated by the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) in the same way as regular donations.
How do I get a tax receipt?
Within minutes of making a donation, you will receive an electronic tax receipt mailed to the email address you provided in the donation process. You can save and print this receipt at any time to use for income tax purposes. Because CanadaHelps.org is a charity (Charitable Business Number 896568417RR0001), you will be receipted for your donation by CanadaHelps.org.
How quickly do the donations get processed?
CanadaHelps.org transfers the donation amount (less 3% transaction fee) to our church account within three days of the donation.
Can I request that the charity I give to use my donation in a particular way?
Yes. Our church has enabled a "fund designation" option, which allows you to designate where your gift will go.
How will my donations show up on my credit card statement?
Your credit card statement will show payment to CanadaHelps.org.
