The creative ‘elves’ at the Fort St. John Community Arts Council are getting into the Christmas spirit as we prepare for Elves’ Christmas. This seasonal series of events is one of the Arts Council’s favourites. Residents are welcome to take part in a variety of shows and events meant to brighten the dark nights as winter settles in.

2007 is the third year for Elves’ Christmas, which is a major fundraising event for the Arts Council. This year Elves’ Christmas events included a hot chocolate night to open the Festival of Trees, a Rockin’ Christmas concert for youth, a traditional variety Christmas show, and the Festival of Trees gala dinner and auction. New for this year is the Classic Christmas Movie week featuring traditional Christmas movies, like It’s a Wonderful Life, and Miracle on 34^th Street.

We believe that our community appreciates events that are clustered over a longer period rather than single annual events that they regrettably may not be able to attend.

·      Festival of Trees Gala Dinner and Auction
     Wednesday, Dec. 5, Dinner at 6:30 pm, Auction at 7 pm Northern Grand Quality Inn
Watch as participants out bid each other for the exquisite Christmas Auction items, including a Star Wars themed tree. This event is one of the major fundraisers for the Arts Council. Tickets $40. Contact 787-2781 by Dec. 4 to buy tickets. 

·         Rockin' Christmas Concert
Saturday, Dec. 7, 7 - 9 pm, Lido Theatre
Come and see Fort St. John’s Rock’n’Roll Super Stars turn out some fabulous riffs. Featuring Last Chance Anna Pascal, Jason Kouwenhoven, Fallen Idols and more! Tickets on sale at the door.  

·         Classics Christmas Movie Week
Monday to Friday, Dec. 10 to 14, two showings at 7pm & 9:15 pm, Lido Theatre
Featuring Christmas classics like Miracle on 34th Street, It’s a Wonderful Life, A Muppet Christmas Carol, Scrooge -A Christmas Carol, and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Tickets $2 for children and $4 for adults. Schedule posted on FSJNow.  

·   Raising Our Voices Christmas Variety Show
Wednesday, Dec. 19, 7 - 9 pm, North Peace Cultural Centre
An old fashioned Christmas show with four local choirs, dancing, skits and comedy. Great family entertainment. Tickets on sale through the Fort St. John Community Arts Council. Call 787-2781 for more information.
