The Sub Zero Running Club will be hosting their 25th annual Spring Runoff Road Race and Walk for Diabetes on Apr. 1.  Running and walking will start at Northern Lights College with registration at 9:00 am and events starting at 10:00 a.m.  This annual event features walking and running events for all ages.  Girls and boys age 10 and under will race over a 1 km course for gold, silver, and bronze medals.  11 to 15 year olds will run 3 km in a non competitive event for prizes donated by Moose FM.  Runners aged 11 and over can compete in the 5 km estimated time race.  Competitors predict how long it will take to run 5 km.  Race organizers will look after the runners watches while they try to come close to their estimated time.  The three runners who come closest to their predictions will win merchandise prizes.  The feature 10 km event has categories for 17 to 19, 20 to 34, 35 to 49, and 50 and over runners.  Merchandise prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in all age groups for males and females.  In the Walking event there are two categories.  Walkers may participate in the non-competitive event where participants whose times come closest to the "Mystery Time" will receive prizes.  Competitive walkers will race over a 5 km route where the 3 fastest will receive prizes.  All participants will be eligible for draw prizes.  There will be refreshments served after the races.  Special 25th anniversary t-shirts will be available for sale along with some other special 25th anniversary surprises and displays.   Entry fee will be $10 for adults and $5 for participants age 18 and under.  Proceeds from the event will go to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
