FEB 22nd -- GAME # 1 -- D. Bauer (10-2) vs P*Stars (1-11) The first half of this game turned out to be a close contested battle, with neither team falling behind or moving ahead. A halftime score of 35 (D. Bauer) to 33 (P*Stars) shows just how close the game was for the first 20 minutes. Both Andrew James (14 points) and Dwayne McInnes (12 points) were forces for D. Bauer in the first half, while the bulk of the P*Stars scoring came from Kyle Robertson (26 total points). Rui Miranda was unstoppable throughout the game, hitting 5 from beyond the arc to go along with a number of field goals and free throws to put in a game high 28 points and be named the player of the game. It was his three at the start of the second half that saw D. Bauer go on a 12-2 run and put the league leader up for good. FINAL SCORE: 75 - 67
GAME # 2 -- Pioneer Land Services (8-4) vs Kal Tire (5-7) Led by Blair Olsen (27 points) and Will McInnes (25 points) along with balanced scoring from the rest of the Pioneers, this game was finished early. With Kal Tire's team made up of the minimum 5 players, it seemed they just couldn't keep up to the long bench across the floor. Halftime score was 50-30 for the Pioneers. Both teams went on big runs in the second half, with Kal Tire being led by Jerrick Salinas 24 points (named player of the game) and Angus Gourley (20 points). The BIG news in this game was that Pioneer are the first team to break the 100-point marker this year. FINAL SCORE: 102 - 74
MARCH 1st -- GAME # 1 -- Pioneer Land Services (9-4) vs D. Bauer (11-2) The two top teams in the league met for the last time this regular season. D. Bauer was looking to guarantee top spot in the league with a win, while Pioneer looked to keep the hope for first overall alive with a win. The first half was back and forth, with neither team taking control. Even the second half saw the teams trade the lead with mini runs and big defensive stops. In the end, though, the balanced scoring from the Pioneer team saw them escape with a narrow victory. Double digit scoring from the Pioneer's Shad Potts (18), Chase "Player of the Game" Cooper (15), Will McInnes (13), Rich Westerguard (13) and Blair Olsen (10) -- D. Bauer was led by their big men Griff Peet (23 points - game high), Dwayne McInnes (14) and Shane Nelson (10). FINAL SCORE: 78 - 72
GAME # 2 -- Kal Tire (5-8) vs P*Stars (1-12) The P*Stars would not be denied their second win of the season and EVERYONE contributed in this game that they dominated from the opening jump to the final buzzer. Brian Hurst (19 points) hit for 5 three pointers and his teammates managed to keep it respectable with a strong second half, but it turned out to nto be enough on this night. All but one player on the P*Stars scored in the double digits and Nick Sawchuk was named player of the game with his 19 points (tied for game high), 14 of those points coming in the second half. FINAL SCORE: 89 - 67 |
